Indie Royale: Alpha Collection

Hot on the heels of the recent Humble Bundle Mojam, and coming from the makers and creators of Desura and IndieGames.com, is the latest Indie Royale release: a trio of games, currently in development, and very much playable.
Head of the group is the popular Towns, being developed by SMP from Spain. Here you have complete control over the creation, and running of a town. However, this is nothing like the Sim City of yesteryear, and much more like Dwarf Fortress, with a smattering of Dungeon Keeper and Majesty. The ability to design the town however you like, and then defending it with the heroes that you've raised against the monsters that come to destroy what you've built.

With the player delving down into the depths to mine exotic minerals, dealing with the monsters guarding them, crafting weapons of greater power with the loot, and then giving them to your heroes and unleashing them again, this game looks to give a large amount of playability, on top of keeping the town surviving. Available on PC, Mac and Linux.

Next in the lineup is 3079, from the brain of Phr00t Software, which comes out as what you would get if you combined Minecraft and Fallout. With randomly generated terrain, quests, enemies, buildings, and characters, This game promises to never be the same twice. Coming to the world, your goal is to bring peace (with a big gun), and end the war that has been raging for far too long, for whichever side you choose to join. However, the two sides aren't the only things to fight on this planet...

Hunting giant spaceships, blowing large holes in enemies as well as the ground beneath, all on a open block-like world, while trying to not get blown up yourself. The funding will help make this game even bigger, and with the single player, and online multiplayer up and running, this game can only get better. Available on PC, Mac and Linux.

Last in the Alpha Collection is the 2D platformer, Wyv And Keep, brought to us by Jolly Corpse. Not their first game in the 2D style, the story follows a pair of treasure hunters going deep into Amazonia. Playable either on your own, controlling both characters one at a time, or with a friend for co-op insanity, the game features lots of puzzles, traps and pitfalls for you to avoid (or push your friend in).

With all the clever and fiendish puzzles, you'l have to use all that you have available with boxes, bombs, and even your partner to climb up on and push things over. Rounding it up with some amazing pixel animation, and looking to have some brilliant dialogue as well, this is another one to watch. Available on PC, with Mac and Linux versions in the works.

So all in all, these 3 games look to be ones to watch out for, and (as of writing) available for only £3.24, there really is no excuse not to get them below.
