Fists raised to the sky, the victor’s lungs contract as he exhales. He has made it. Thirty-one lie vanquished beneath his feet, unable to make it to the finish line. But this is only the beginning. He has another war to prepare for. The IGN Proleague.
Sixteen invited professionals. Sixteen players from a 256 strong tournament. A $20,000 prize pool, and one spot in the 4th IGN Proleague, one of competitive Starcraft II’s most prestigious tournaments.
The fog of war descends on Telford this Sunday, as the 32-man IPL 4 Qualifier takes place. Cast by immensely popular duo John "TotalBiscuit" Bain and Shaun "dApollo" Clark, the tournament ensures a dramatic and energetic conclusion to a weekend of Starcraft II.
Featuring some of the best foreign players around at the moment, and two very high quality Koreans for them to test their mettle against, the skill bar is sky high! Here is a small taster of the competition:
- Stephano (Zerg)
- Grubby (Protoss)
- DeMusliM (Terran)
- White-Ra (Protoss)
- ThorZaIN (Terran)
Now, anyone who follows the foreign SC2 scene to any extent will more than recognise these names. And even if you don’t, take my word for it, they’re absolutely awesome players. These guys are going to put on an absolute show, no doubt about it!
Here is a link to the official Insomnia44 page for the tournament, with everything you could possibly need to know on it! I will be posting results and some mild gameplay analysis on this blog, so even if you (unfortunately) don’t manage to catch the games, you can check back here for the results! Spoiler warning in advance.
