The Starcraft 2 IPL qualifiers (at i44) has to undoubtably be the biggest Starcraft related thing to ever make it's way to English soil. We have seen blood, sweat and tears paint the event halls like a canvas, with players like Ryung, TAiLS and Stephano laying waste to all who dared encounter them.
Now we have reached the grand final of the tournament who has the mettle, to take the final step and collect the $10,000 grand prize?
Well first up we have the 3rd Seed TAiLS from Team MvP, who is probably the best Protoss player in the world right now and will likely give his competitor a good run for his money. Despite this however, TAiLS has the distinct disadvantage of starting 2-0 down, due to climbing up through the losers bracket to reach the grand final.
Then we have the 1st seed (and last years IPL winner) Stephano from Team Millenium, the human wrecking ball who is starting to gain a reputation for dispatching Korean players. Due to his extremely solid macro and phenomenal Roach play, I expect great things from this top tier player.
So who will win this best of seven? Only time will tell - Tune in for more soon.
UPDATE
Stephano managed to storm TAiLS with a 4-2 victory in what can only be described as one of the most intense matches I've ever seen. TAiLS did well to score the first round and looked set to take the second round too but through Stephano's godly Roach micro, he managed to just scrape through and then counter attack to take the second match. The third and fourth match it seemed Stephano had figured out his opponant and managed to dispatch TAiLS with some fanatastic harrassing.
Overall it seems that TAiLS just didn't have what it takes to finish the current top Zerg player, who seems to be just dominating almost everyone currently. It's not all that bad though since TAiLS takes home a very nice $5,000 which is nothing to sniff at. As for Stephano however he go's home with a much meatier $10,000 and a spot in IPL4 which could potentially lead to another victory for the current IPL champion.
